The archives of De Dobbel-Beker currently have more than 67,000 names, most of them are related to one of our 75 family trees.
Many of these family trees we researched, started in the 17th century, sometimes even earlier.
This is the result of many years of searching in all kinds of archives by plenty of enthusiastic researchers.
We must admit that it is extremely difficult to find genealogical information from before 1650.
We are often looking for a tiny piece of written info.
We suspect that some of our more than 75 Dobbelaer-Dobbeleer family trees are related to each other,
and there is even evidence about the origin of the family name and a possible ancestor in the 13th-14th century.
In October 2010 De Dobbel-Beker decided to join in on the DNA project of the Flemish society
(VVF) (Belgium).
By providing a simple saliva test we can examine the individual DNA profile and phylogenetic relationships between people.
Participation is expensive, but by providing the necessary sponsorship we have a few dozens of namesakes that participated.
